Step-by-step instructions to activate your OWLY 1, pair the watch, and get connected in minutes.
5 steps from box to first call.
Your OWLY 1 arrives with its SIM already installed, so there are no tiny cards to fumble with. Activate the plan, charge the watch, download the app, and pair - most families are up and running in about 20 minutes.
Work through the steps in order. Each one depends on the one before it, and skipping ahead is the most common reason pairing fails.
Before you begin
Gather these 3 things and the whole setup goes smoothly the first time.
OWLY 1 and USB cable
• The watch and the enclosed USB charging cable, straight from the box.
Your smartphone
• An iPhone or Android phone with the App Store or Google Play, and a Wi-Fi or data connection.
Your watch ICCID
• This is the SIM number you’ll use to activate the plan.
• Where to find it: on the back of the packaging and the SIM card holder.
Set up your OWLY 1 in five steps
Follow these in order. Activating your plan comes first, because your watch cannot connect to the app until the SIM has been activated.
Activate SIM plan
Visit safeowl.com/activate to activate your pre-installed SIM by entering your watch ICCID, found on the back of the packaging and the SIM card holder.
Charge your OWLY 1
Charge your watch for at least 30 minutes using the enclosed USB cable. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn it on.
Already turned on your watch? Restart it after activating your plan.
Download the SafeOwl app
Download the “SafeOwl” app from the App Store® or Google Play™.
Important: you can only connect your watch after the SIM has been successfully activated in step 1.
Create your SafeOwl account
Open the SafeOwl app and create an account with your email address, or with your mobile phone number.
Use your own number, not the watch’s. The account belongs to you as the parent, so the watch’s phone number will not work here.
Pair your OWLY 1
- Sign in to the SafeOwl app and tap "Pair Watch."
- On your watch, scan the QR code labeled "Pair the watch."
- Follow the prompts to complete setup.
You can also find the QR code by swiping up from the Home Screen and tapping "QR Code."
Important: ensure your watch has at least 65% battery before connecting. For system updates, connect your watch to Wi-Fi via Settings > Wi-Fi.
Please note: For system updates, connect your watch to Wi-Fi via “Settings › Wi-Fi.”
You’re all set!
Your OWLY 1 is now connected and ready to use. Your child can start making calls, and you can track their location through the app.
